Mattress Removal

Mattress & box spring removal

Mattresses are bulky, awkward and refused by most kerbside collections. We take them out of the room and haul them off.

Why mattresses are their own problem

Most household waste collections will not take a mattress. They do not fold, they do not fit in a car, they are heavy in an unhelpful way, and they are almost impossible to carry down a staircase alone. That is why they end up leaning against a garage wall for two years.

We take mattresses, box springs, divan bases and bed frames, from a single item to every bed in a property.

  • Single, double, queen and king mattresses
  • Box springs and divan bases
  • Bed frames, headboards and bunk beds
  • Crib and toddler mattresses
  • Sofa beds and futons

Bed bugs and contamination

If the mattress has bed bugs, tell us. We would far rather know than not — it changes how the item is wrapped and handled so nothing is carried into the truck or another customer's property. It is a common situation and nobody at RQ will make you feel awkward about it. What causes a problem is finding out on the day.

Landlords and property managers

Mattresses are one of the most common things left behind at a rental turnover, and they are frequently the item holding up a re-let. We handle multi-unit and recurring turnover work, and for regular accounts we can invoice rather than take payment per job. See commercial services.

Getting a price

Tell us how many items, what floor they are on, and whether there are stairs. A photo helps but for mattresses the count and the access matter more. Quote back within one business day.

Common questions

Do I need to get the mattress outside first?

No. We take it from wherever it is. Getting it to the curb yourself will reduce the price slightly, but it is not required and is not worth hurting your back over.

Will you take just one mattress?

Yes, subject to a minimum charge which we tell you in the quote. If you have other items to go at the same time, it is usually better value to do them together.

What happens to it?

It goes to a licensed disposal facility. Mattresses can be partly recycled — steel springs, foam and timber all have recycling routes — and we use them where available.
