Old appliances taken out of the house and disposed of properly — including refrigerators and freezers, which have rules of their own.
Appliances are heavy, awkward and usually in the worst possible place — a basement, a tight galley kitchen, up a flight of stairs. That is the job. You do not need to disconnect anything or drag it outside first.
Anything containing refrigerant is handled differently, and you need to tell us in advance. Refrigerant is regulated under federal EPA rules and cannot simply be taken to the tip with everything else. It has to be recovered by a certified technician before the unit is scrapped.
That means two things for you. It affects the price, and it affects the schedule. Neither is a problem as long as we know up front — which is why the quote form asks whether anything in the load contains refrigerant. Answer honestly even if you are not sure; “not sure” is a perfectly good answer and we will work it out.
A company that quotes you the same price for a refrigerator as for a dryer, with no questions asked, is either absorbing a cost they have not told you about or not disposing of it properly.
Water heaters need to be drained before they can be moved, and a full one is dangerously heavy. If yours is still connected, tell us — we would rather plan for it than discover it on the day.
A photo of the appliance and the route out of the house is usually all we need. Tell us the floor it is on, whether there are stairs, and whether it is still plumbed or wired in. Quote back within one business day.
No. Tell us it is still connected when you request the quote and we will allow time for it. We disconnect standard plug-in and hose connections. Hard-wired or gas appliances need a qualified electrician or gas fitter to disconnect them first — that is a legal requirement, not a preference, and we will tell you if yours falls into that category.
Yes. Single-item jobs are welcome. There is a minimum charge, which we tell you in the quote.
Where possible, yes. Metal appliances have real scrap value and go for recycling. Refrigerant units go to a facility equipped to recover the refrigerant before the shell is scrapped.
Yes. Tell us how many flights and whether there is a lift, and it will be reflected in the quote rather than added on the day.
